Commencement at NHTI
Dear Class of 2008:
The 58th NHTI Commencement will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. under a tent in Parking Lot C. It is important that you are aware of the many aspects of the Commencement ceremony and the steps you must take prior to May 16.Congratulations,This webpage has been created to provide you as well as your families and guests with the information needed to meet deadlines and to help you have a memorable, enjoyable, graduation experience.
In the event of severe, inclement weather, graduation will be held in the Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center with simulcast in Sweeney Hall Auditorium and Student Center at NHTI. If the ceremony is moved indoors, a ticket will be required for admission and only two guests may attend per graduating senior. Please check the NHTI website at www.nhti.edu the day before graduation to obtain current information about the location of graduation.
Graduation is the culmination of your hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. We all look forward to celebrating with you on that day. See you at Commencement!

Your checklist
- Deadlines for filing Intent to Graduate Forms with the Registrar's Office: October 26, 2007 for fall 2007 completion; November 16, 2007 for spring 2008 completion; and April 18, 2008 for summer 2008 completion. All forms must be signed by the Department Head of the academic program in which the degree will be conferred. - Prior to graduating Financial Aid recipients are required to complete an exit counseling session. This online exit counseling session has been created to make sure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a Loan borrower. This online exit counseling session will take about 30-40 minutes to complete. Please visit http://www.nhti.edu/financialaid/entranceexitcounseling.htm to participate in the exit counseling session.
- The graduation fee of $75.00 must be paid prior to Commencement and covers the costs associated with the ceremony: diploma, announcements, flowers, cap and gown, reception, chair and tent rental, awards, and programs. This fee must be paid whether or not you plan to participate in the ceremony. All financial and other obligations to the Institute must be met for degrees, diplomas, professional certificates and transcripts to be released.
- Announcements, tickets for guest use in the event of severe inclement weather, and portrait photo information will be mailed at the beginning of April.
- If you need a specialty size gown, please go to the NHTI Bookstore to be measured no later than April 18, 2008. Academic regalia is required for Commencement. The cap, gown, hood, and tassel are yours to keep after the ceremony.
- If it is impossible for you to be present at Commencement, you must write an In Absentia letter to the Vice President of Student Affairs prior to April 28, 2008. Please include your name, degree program, and current mailing address. If you are unable to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be mailed to you the week following graduation. Individuals receiving their degrees may not be accompanied by anyone when receiving their degree unless they are in need of accommodation.
- Job Placement and resume and cover letter preparation assistance are available through the Career Counseling and Job Placement Office. An appointment may be made by calling 271-6984. Visit the NHTI website for more information at http://www.nhti.edu/campuslife/jobplacement.htm.
- On Commencement Day, please arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. for final preparations. Academic programs are assigned to specific rooms in Sweeney Hall.
