How many children can attend?
We enroll 47 children to maintain the accreditation ratios set forth by NAEYC. We accept full time children in all three of our programs, and part time enrollment options are available in our toddler and preschool programs.
We are a state licensed facility and are also nationally accredited. This means that we must maintain a strict teacher to child ratio in each program.
Spaces become available in each program when one of the following situations occurs:
- A child's schedule changes (days or times)
- A child withdraws from a program for any reason
- When children move from one program to the next (for example, from the infant room to the toddler room).
*In order to move into the preschool program, children must be completely toilet trained and be three years of age. Since children are unpredictable in terms of toilet learning, we can never be certain when they will actually be ready to move...we have to 'wait and see!'
If you have a child that is enrolled in one of our programs, you are considered an "in-house" family. In-house families have priority over others on our standard waiting list. If an in-house family needs a change in their schedule or if they have another child needing a space, they are given priority over wait listed families.
The number of in-house families on the waiting list changes radically from year to year and month to month. When spaces do become available for a particular age group, the in house wait list is checked before the community wait list.
With so many factors involved in enrollment to the center, we cannot accurately predict when spaces will become available until we receive notice from a parent, and the space actually becomes available. However, we phone through our waiting list on a regular basis, for two reasons: 1, to update the list and remove those who no longer need to be on it (often the waiting list is shortened a little during this process), and 2, to keep in touch with parents and advise them of how things are moving along. We cannot give you a 'number' of where you are on the waiting list due to the many factors involved. Please note that if you do not return requests to update your information your family will be removed from the wait list.
How does the waiting list work?
Children placed on our waiting list are placed in order of date of birth first, and then by date of application. We try to keep a fairly even balance within each program as to age and gender.
What are the age/classrooms groups?
The Center has three classrooms. The Infant room serves children from age six weeks to eighteen months. The Toddler room serves children ages eighteen months through three years. The Preschool classroom serves children ages three through five years, until eligible for kindergarten.
How can I learn about other policies?
If you wish to ask a specific question, you can leave a message for Lisa Ranfos at 271-8911 or write to her at
. Registration packages, including a parent handbook, are available at the Center.
